On May 29th, 2018, I lost my father to suicide. This event has traumatized my entire family and left myself, my brother, my mom, and my family without a father, a husband, and a son respectively. I still hold out hope that I'll wake up from this nightmare, or he'll walk in through the back door like he just went outside that morning to have a cigar.

If you or anyone you know is suffering with depression or suicidal thoughts, please look into getting help. If not for your sake then for your family's. Nobody deserves to lose a loved one like this. No matter how bad you feel or how good it might seem, taking your own life is never an option. It's a selfish, short sighted thing to do that will only cause more harm to your family and your loved ones than you could possibly imagine.

Love your family. Your friends, your relatives, everybody you care about. You never know what kind of insidious illness might be lurking in their minds that could threaten to take them away from you without a moment's notice.
