Worldbuilder's Fractal
A downloadable WorldBuilding Handbook
You've spent three weeks mapping trade routes for a kingdom that doesn't appear until Chapter 12. You have forty pages on griffin migration patterns. And you haven't written a single word about your protagonist.
Welcome to Worldbuilding Paralysis.
Traditional worldbuilding tells you to start with the gods, build down through continents and empires, and finally—exhaustedly—reach your characters. But stories aren't museums. They're engines of conflict.
The Lean Worldbuilding Method flips the script.
Inspired by tech startup philosophy, this revolutionary approach teaches you to build a Minimum Viable World—just enough to write your next scene. Then you break it. Then you fix it. Every detail earns its place by creating tension, raising stakes, or deepening character.
Inside, you'll discover:
- The three-phase method that prevents infinite canvas paralysis
- Decision gates that stop you from overbuilding
- Worked examples across fantasy, sci-fi, and contemporary settings
- Battle-tested templates for rapid worldbuilding
- How to reverse-engineer plot from your world's conflicts
Stop building encyclopedias. Start building stories.
Your world isn't done when there's nothing left to add. It's done when there's nothing left to take away without breaking the story.

I was going to make a stupid joke about only knowing how to do the waterfall method, but I read through a bit and was more compelled to say--this is great!
I recently got a physical copy of your solo notation book and I have yet to read through all of this but I hope you keep making more stuff like this!
EDIT: Was wondering, are you thinking of putting this up on Amazon for the physical copy as well?
Yes, definitely will. But experience tells me to wait the possible errata from the readers first
This is a very good guide to create worldbuilding for your stories
In the "mechanics" section, you talk about The Cost of Power. You state (and I agree) that power MUST come at a cost and give the example of "using magic and being tired"; however, you then comment that "losing memories from using magic is a story." In this context, does this mean you're discouraging it? I get the feeling it's an important point, but I don't understand where you're going with it.
It’s simply an example of cost, in this case when you cast a spell you are losing a memory. Not original neither… I took it from the Neverending Story as you might have guessed
