So we have actually been home for a week but I have yet to finish the rest of the story of our journey to Omaha. So we set off after a great visit and warm hospitality with Jim and Judy in Denver for the last leg of our journey. Coincidentally, also the most boring. The cornstalks started before we left the city limits of Denver and continued all the way to Omaha.
This is about the most exciting thing we saw on the journey:

We finally made it Omaha. Laura has a great apartment which she continually reminded us was not something she could come close to affording in San Diego. We had Laura all to ourselves on our first night. We went to dinner and to a grocery store owned by Kroger so I got to use my San Diego Ralph's card! Laura went to work bright and early on Friday morning and got off at lunch time just in time for us to have lunch at Culver's, a great place I discovered on my last trip to Wisconsin. Love that frozen custard! After lunch it was off for the much anticipated trip to Target. We allowed Mark to come with us provided he didn't complain about how long we were there.

We got Mark a project while we were at Target. This was supposed to be a cabinet for Laura's bathroom but Mark couldn't resist playing with it.

We had a real treat - Laura fixed dinner for us. Baked Ziti, garlic bread and salad.

Saturday Sean and Laura took us to downtown Omaha for the Farmer's Market. Lots of great looking vegetables, homemade jams and cheeses. Sean knew of a great little pub for lunch where I had the most fantastic warm duck salad. So yummy! Following a short drive through Warren Buffet's neighborhood we were off to give Sean a real treat - his first trip to Costco. I can honestly say i have never seen this sign at my Costco in San Diego.

Sean treated us as well as his family to a wonderful dinner at Vincenzo's in downtown Omaha. After we walked along the Missouri River and enjoyed the cool Nebraska night.

Before we knew it was time to leave the little Hyundai with Laura and fly back to California. Thankfully, Christmas will be here soon and Laura will be home so we can give her more hugs and love. Miss her and love her so much!
