The Birthday Princess

I finally managed to get a card made using the beautiful progressive image for this month at the Moondrea Challenge.  I thought she was such a princess that she'd make a fantastic feminine birthday card for a young lady.

She's colored with watercolor pencils, cut with a Spellbinders die, matted with a scrap of aqua CS, and layered onto a background of dp scraps from the overflowing basket.  The sentiment was printed and cut with an Avery Elle die.

That's all I have for today.  I admit I've been making more gnomes this month and fewer cards but I'll get back into my regular routine soon.  Somehow, I've fallen in love with all the different gnomes that can be made and have been completely fascinated with trying new styles of them.  Maybe I'll share a post with gnome photos next week and you can se what I mean.

Fairy Princess

This darling little fairy sitting on her toadstool is from Lemon Shortbread and I'm totally in love with her!  I think she'll be perfect for a birthday card or just to please any young lady who loves fairies, or princesses, or who might love a bit of cheering up.

I started by coloring the image with ProMarkers, added loose glitter to her wing and her crown, then I die cut it with an oval die from QuicKutz.  I cut the glittered frame for it with another die from that same set.

I used dp scraps which originally came from the "Basics" pad by DCWV.  I found some of my favorite sheer ribbon and wrapped it around the card front, tied it, then added one of my hand-sewn, satin bows.  The bow had been white but I 'dyed' it with a ProMarker to get that exact shade of blue.

The sentiment was printed, hand cut, inked on the edges, and then adhered across the lower part of the ribbon.

Kissing Toads

IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR THE 2 CRAFTY CRITTER CRAZIES POST,
SCROLL DOWN ONE OR CLICK HERE.

We all remember the story of the Little Princess who had to kiss a toad (or maybe it was a frog) to find her Prince Charming, right?  How many of you believed that story enough to kiss your share of toads, frogs, or other like creatures?  Yeah, me, too.  :-D

My card today not only celebrates the newest "Anything Goes" challenge at Crafts Galore Encore, it also features a fabulous image (The Little Frog Princess) from our wonderful sponsor, A Day for Daisies!

I knew before I even started coloring that I wanted to do a really CAS card.  I colored with watercolors, using clear water to lift some of the color along one side of the princess to create the angle of light and some shadows.  I cut the image into a rectangle, inked the edges, adhered it to the textured card base on an angle, and then trimmed the overhanging corners.

I printed the sentiment, cut it into a rectangle, inked the edges, and added it.  That was it - no flowers, no ribbons, no bows, no embellishments.  Just completely clean and simple.
