C23 - ISC Blog Challenge - Tim Holtz Inspired Jewelry!

I was soooo excited when I found out that Innovative Stamp Creation's Blog Challenge for today was to make Tim Holtz inspired jewelry! I used to make jewelry quite a bit, but have not had much time lately, so this was a well needed challenge for me! :)

I decided to focus on Tim's grungeboard for my jewelry, so I made this matching necklace and bracelet set. For the necklace, I painted a small piece of grungeboard with light pink acrylic paint. I then stamped the rose image from Innovative Stamp Creation's Delicate Rose sheet with black palette ink, and then distressed the edges with some tattered rose distress ink. Next, I took one of Tim's square fragment pieces and glued the stamped grungeboard to the back of the fragment. I then added a jewelry connector to the back of the grungeboard and a jump ring to that. Then I strung it on some black leather cord, added some connectors at each end and a fastener to finish it off!

For the bracelet, I got this idea for a leather like cuff bracelet from this blog "Crafted by Us". I thought it would be a prefect match for this necklace. I started with a 1 1/8" strip of grungeboard, painted it with the same pink acrylic paint, stamped the same rose image with more black palette ink and distressed the edges with tattered rose distress ink. I then rounded the corner with a zutter round-it-all 1/2" corner rounder. For the fastener, I took one of the Tim Holtz hitch fastener, punched a 1/8" hole in the end without the rounded corners and placed the fastener over the hole. Then, on the other side of the bracelet, I punched a 1/4" hole for the top portion of the fastener to push through and lock. Cool huh! I really liked this idea...they are very fun and easy to make too!!

SC217 - I've Got Your Back!!

I made this card for SC217...very fun sketch indeed! I thought it was perfect for this grass embossing folder, which would also go with these adorable little chicks from Kitchen Sink Stamps!

For the little chicks, I stamped them in barely banana twice, then so saffron and finally close to cocoa. For the background, as a stated above, I used the grass cuttlebug embossing folder and then sponged it with some mellow moss to make the grass stand out a bit more. Finally, I added the sentiment with hodgepodge hardware and the designer label and scalloped circle punch from SU!

A pretty simple card today, but I really do like the outcome! These chicks are just waaaay too cute!

CC207, MOJO75, FTTC4 - Floral Easter Basket

This card was made with three challenges in mind. The sketch is from Mojo Monday MOJO75, the color combo is CC207 - summer sun, pumpkin pie and kiwi kiss, and finally I incorporated FTTC4 which was to use velum on your card. Whew, lots of stuff to keep in mind, but I think I did it! :)

This wonderful Easter basket image is from Flourishes new Signs of Spring set. I colored it with some SU markers and copic markers. I used some Summer Picnic DSP in the background and for the yellow flourished panels I used one of the flourish stamps from Flourishes Coffee with Friends set. To embellish, I added some yellow dew drops and some kiwi kiss ribbon (one of my most favorite ribbons right now!)

TLC209 & KSCC#8 - Single Rose Magnet

I made this Magnet for TLC209 - Rubber Band Technique, and KSCC#8 where Lynn was today's hostess and her challenge was to make a refrigerator magnet that is no bigger then 4"x4". Both challenges were soo much fun!! For more deets on how to do the rubber band technique, you can see the challenge here on SCS.

This rubber band technique is just so simple, but can make a very fun background!! For my background, once I stamped the rubber bands in versamark, I heat set it with some clear embossing powder, and then sponged over that with some so saffron and mellow moss inks.

One of the stipulation's for Lynn's Magnet Challenge, was to use a computer generated quote along with a kitchen sink image. I found this great quote "A single rose can be my garden...A single friend, my world." and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it! I printed the quote off, and then, of course, used the 3 steps hearts and roses from Kitchen Sink Stamps. I decided to create a yellow rose since it is symbolic of friendship. I stamped the smaller rose image right over the sentiment, cut it out with my creative memories circle cutter and then sponged the edges, and layered it on some Label #1 nestabilities.

Very fun, and now I will be able to give some refrigerator art to my very best Friend!! :)

WT206 - Harlequin Stripes

I made card for WT206, where we were to use stripes on our card somewhere. I don't use stripes all that often so this was a fun challenge for me!

I chose to use Innovative Stamp Creation's Harlequin Flowers stamp sheet for this card. The image was stamped with Palette Black and then colored with copics. I then realized I colored the image on white paper, and the Candy Lane DSP I used was vanilla, so I pulled out some Tea Died Distress ink and sponged it all over the image and sentiment circles, and then also sponged a bit of Riding Hood Red on the edges. I stamped the hardware image with black, and then punched out the sentiment with punches, layered them and popped them up on dimensionals. I also stamped the card base with the Little Speck background stamp, also from ISC. The card was finished off with some caramel ribbon.

Card Details:

Paper: Riding Hood Red, Creamy Caramel, White, Candy Lane DSP
Inks: Black Palette, Riding Hood Red, Tea Died Distress ink

SC216 - God So Loved the World

I made this card for SC216. I just love this sketch, but then again, I pretty much love ANY sketch with a circle in it!!

For today's card I decided to use the He is Risen set from Our Daily Bread Designs. This set is just so wonderful! I LOVE this cross and all the lovely sentiments that came with it! Perfect for some wonderful Easter cards!
I stamped the cross in stamped off basic gray, and then stamped the sentiment over the cross with not quite navy. I think the rest of the card is pretty self explanatory. I used my Creative Memories Circle cutter and scalloped circle nestability for the half circle background. Then I paper pierced the white scallops and the white border strip behind the image. To finish off the card, I added some baja breeze ribbon and not quite navy brads.

I don't know about you, but I think you can tell from my last two posts I am ready for spring to filing!! :)

Card Details:

Paper: Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy, White, Urban Garden DSP

TLC208 - Round Bunny Box!

These boxes for TLC208 are just way too fun and easy to make! You can find the printable template for this box here on SCS. Just print the box template on your card stock and you are ready to go! I made my box out of Basic Gray card stock and then added a strip of Raspberry Tart DSP along with some pomegranate ribbon along the base to dress it up a bit.

For the top of the box, I used Kitchen Sink Stamp's 3 step Honey Bunny stamp set. I know! How adorable is this little bunny!! To stamp this little guy, I used basic gray stamped off once for both the first and second step, and then basic gray for the third step and finally basic black for the fourth step. For the grass I used my favorite green combo or mellow moss, old olive and always artichoke. I then sponged some clouds in the background with baja breeze ink. To finish it off, stamped a quick sentiment!

I really *heart* these little boxes, I think I will make them for DD's teachers this year for Easter...Wow! I feel so ahead of the game!! :)

DD Peek-a-Boo Treat Holders!!

I know!! How cute are these little treat holders!! My 5 year old DD informed me a few days ago that she wanted to make her valentines with me this year. So this is what we decided to do...you can find a tutorial on how to make these great little treat holders over on SCS.

For my treat holders I did adjust the width of them to 2 3/4" so I was able to get three treat holders out of one piece of 8 1/2" x 11" paper. Other then that I followed the instruction on Split Coast. For the base we used Riding Hood Red. My DD stamped the scalloped image on both white and pirouette pink card stock. I punched the heart out of the pink card stock with the 3/4" circle punch, and then the whole image out with the scalloped circle punch. For the white layer, I took my 1 1/4" circle punch and punched out the hugs and kisses circle. I then layered the pink scallop with the white circle and the pink heart...clear as mud?? LOL!!

I then added an additional pink scallop punch for the inside and punched a circle in the middle of that for the chocolate candy heart to show through . I finished the holder off with some white ribbon!

DD is soooo excited to give these out tomorrow! She is also very proud of herself for signing each one! :)

FLLCFEB, FTTC2, MOJO72 - What a combination!!

I made this card for three challenges: FLLCFEB where we were to find inspiration in the colors of a peacock feather, FTTC2 - where Betty Wright is hosting the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge which is to use buttons, AND this week's Mojo Monday sketch challenge!

For the color inspiration, I decided to use Taken with Teal, Kiwi Kiss and an Antique Gold. I embossed the twig image and bird from Flourishes Home Tweet Home stamp set with some antique gold embossing powder. I then colored them with some copic markers, and sponged the edge of the image panel with Taken with Teal. For my button, I found this fabulous antique gold button in with all of my sewing stuff and thought it would be perfect for not only the button challenge, but also for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge!

There are sooo many wonderful challenges out there, I wish I could do them all, but the best I can do for now is combine a few when I get a chance!

Monday KSCrew Challenge - He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not!

I am just so excited to be toady's Kitchen Sink Crew's Challenge Guest Hostess! I bought my first KSS set last summer and have not looked back since! These images are just way too much fun to use, and I was so thrilled when I was asked to guest host a challenge for Kitchen Sink! I had so much fun coming up with one!!

Your challenge today...if you choose to accept it...is to create a valentine card with one of KSS wonderful floral stamp sets, with one condition...you can NOT use reds or pinks on your card anywhere! Oh, and the best part of this challenge, is that if you play along, you can enter your card into "What's Cooking with your Kitchen Sink Stamps?" January/February contest since the theme for this month is "Show the Love!" So, get stamping and enter for a chance to win a free stamp sheet!! :)

I went ahead and stamped a couple of card for you following today's rules. This first card matches the title of my post...He Loves Me, He Love Me Not! I used the 3 step daisy stamp set. I stamped the flower in Apricot Appeal, Pumpkin Pie and Tangerine Tango. Three of the petals have been cut off the flower and are falling down the card. The sentiments were computer generated and punched out with my small and large oval SU punches. I cut circle image with my Creative Memories circle cutter, and for the scallop circle I used a scalloped nesties. Finally, I added some white taffeta ribbon. Now if you look at the card, you can see that depending on how many petals you see...he can either love me, or love me not...I choose that think that he loves me! :)

Images: 3 Step Daisies
Paper: Apricot Appeal card stock and DSP, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango, White
Inks: Apricot Appeal, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango

For this second card, I used the newly released 3 step Bitty Tulip Bouquet set and Words of Love sentiment set. I just LOVE tulips, and as you may know...tulips come in every color you can think of, so for today's card...following the no pink and red rule...I used shades of purple. The flowers are stamped with Pale Plum, Perfect Plum and Basic Gray. The greenery is stamped with mellow moss, old olive and always artichoke. The perfect plum base has been sponged slightly. and the card is finished off with some plum ribbon, and some styled silver hodgepodge hardware around the sentiment.

TLC206 - Recessed Frame with ISC Delicate Roses Sneak Peek!

I made this card for TLC206 - Recessed Frame technique. You can find some quick direction on how to do this technique here.

To create this card, I used a new set available February 9th from Innovative Stamp Creations called Delicate Roses. Let me tell you, this is one BEAUTIFUL stamp sheet! I created framed background rose images with one of them stamps from this set. For the background, I did the faux bleaching technique by embossing the rose image with clear embossing powder, and then I took some alcohol inks and dabbed them all over the image. I then placed the image between two pieces of copy paper and used a craft iron to iron off the embossing, and create the bleached look.

I then finished off the card with this wonderful sentiment punched with SU's large oval circle and designer label punch. I also sponged the edges of both the sentiment and the pink pirouette frame around the image with some bravo burgundy ink.

I have to say, I not only *heart* this new stamp sheet, but I also *heart* this fabulous recessed frame technique! It really adds major dimension to your card, however, I would save it for a card that you can hand deliver since the recessed portion of the card would most likely get squished in the mail.

Paper: Pink Pirouette, Bravo Burgundy, Whisper White, Glossy White
Inks: Alcohol Inks, Bravo Burgundy
